Abstract
211,877. Bugatti, E. Feb. 26, 1923, [Convention date]. Laminar springs.-A transverse suspension spring for motor and other vehicles has the form of an open lozenge in plan view, the apices being connected to the axle and frame. The master leaf a having its major axis parallel with, and connected at its ends to the axle c, may be formed from a rectangular plate which is split longitudinally and opened out to take the shape shown, a set of secondary leaves a<1>, a<2> being superposed on each branch of the master leaf. The central portions of the branches of the spring are secured to transverse frame-members e<1>, e<2>. In a modification, the spring is divided along its minor axis to form two separate V-shaped portions, and the transverse frame-members e<1>, e<2> are replaced by a single lozenge shaped member corresponding to the shape of the springs.
