Abstract
211,832. Soc. Anon. le Carbone. Feb. 21, 1923, [Convention date]. Proofing.-Electrodes for galvanic batteries &c. are rendered impermeable to liquids but permeable to gases by a coating of a metal soap such as zinc oleo margarate which may be spread over the electrodes by means of a spatula. The metal soap may be prepared by adding a solution of zinc chloride to a solution of Marseilles soap and filtering off the precipitated zinc soap. The electrodes may also be treated by first immersing them in a boiling solution of Marseilles soap and then in a solution of a metal salt such as zinc chloride.
