Keyboard switches; relays.-Contact spring- sets of the make-before -break type are provided with a mechanical lost-motion device to ensure an interval between make and break. In the keycontrolled set shown in Fig. 2, spring 3 carries a pin 5 which passes through apertures in spring 2 and a tongue 10 and bears against spring 6. Upon throwing of the key, spring 2 engages the flexible tongue 10 which is attached to spring 6, and upon further movement tongue 10 comes against spring 6 and forces it away from pin 5. In the set shown in Fig. 6, upon lepression of the key the cam 29 first makes contact between springs 24, 26 and then breaks contact between springs 25, 27. Fig. 8 shows a set similar to that of Fig. 2, but controlled by a relay, the armature 33 of which is pivoted on a knife edge 34 of a yoke 35.
