Abstract
209,104. Vezzani, A. Dec. 30, 1922, [Convention date]. Extincteurs. - In a chemical fire extinguisher a vessel containing one of two reagents is broken by a hard body which is engaged by the striker, thus allowing the two reagents to mix and produce gas to expel inert liquid. A striker 6 pierces a lead seal 17 and forces a cone 18 of hard metal such as tinned sheet iron &c. to pierce the bottom of a lead cone 16 and allow sulphuric acid &c. contained therein to mix with sodium carbonate &c. in the outer casing 15, generating gas which escapes by holes 21 to force carbon tetra-chloride out of a pipe 3 and a nozzle 4. The striker is locked in position by a handle 9 and a wire 11, and' a tongue-piece 10 obstructs the discharge hole 4. The cartridge 15 is supported by an edge. 13 in a groove 14.
