Abstract
210,639. Graaff, W. Feb. 21, 1923. Fire - extinguishing by solutions or liquid mixtures. - In a foam fireextinguishing apparatus the contents of a receptacle containing a solution of salt for instance a carbonate are forced by water pressure into a second receptacle removably fitted in a depression in the top of the other receptacle and containing a reacting chemical and foam generator. The water enters a receptacle a by a tube b extending to the bottom and the carbonate solution passes into a receptacle d by a detachable tube e, through a perforated partition h to the powdered chemicals such as oxalic acid and saponin in compartment i. The foam passes out by pipe m closed by a float guided on a rod o when the chemicals are exhausted and the water rises to the pipe m. A gaseous medium may be used to force the liquid from vessel a when tube b is omitted and tube e extended to the bottom of the receptacle. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 204,007.
