Abstract
208,875. Gale, C. H. Nov. 17, 1922. Shaft - couplings; securing chain-wheels on shafts. - For securing together shafts or the like in magneto drives &c. in such a manner that they can be readily adjusted relatively, a complete ring of wormwheel teeth is formed on a sleeve d, Figs. 2 and 3, secured to one shaft f and is engaged by a worm g operable at both ends and carried in a ring c connected to the other shaft e. A disc a secured to the shaft e mav be connected to the ring c by an Oldham coupling disc b of rubber, fibre, &c. to absorb shocks. The ring c is split and after adjustment is secured in position by a screw h also operable at both ends. The parts may be graduated to facilitate adjustment. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, a sprocketwheel o is adjustable on a sleeve g secured to the shaft by worm-and-wheel means m, the parts being locked in adjusted position by washers engaging the end of the sleeve j and arranged under the heads of screws n screwing into the wheel o.
