Abstract

207,363. Preston, W. Nov. 7, 1922. Contacts.-In knife-blade switches the movable contact blades b are attached to a transverse carrier or actuating member by being twisted at one or more points b<1> so that one portion b forms the contact blade and the other portion forms a fastening member. The operating spindle a is of square section and is surrounded by insulating material a<1>, the fastening portion of the contact blade being bent at b<2> and b<3> to embrace two sides of the spindle. The blade b co-operates with a clip c having a bent-over portion c<2> with a longrtudinal slot c<3> through which the blade b is threaded, the clip being bent at c so that portions c, c<1> embrace the other two sides of the spindle a. The blade and fastenclip c are held in position on the spindle a by screws e, f and channel-shaped nuts d, d', extensions c<4>, b<4> of the clip and blade being provided to accommodate the screw f. Lock nuts e<1>, f<1>, are also provided. In order to allow the blade b to be slightly inclined relative to the sides of the spindle a the clip c may be slightly bent at c<5> the angle b<2> in the blade being correspondingly modified.
