Abstract

460,958. Switch and fuse contacts. DONOVAN, E. T. G. Oct. 16, 1936, No. 28150. [Class 38 (v)] Blade and spring-clip contacts for switches, fuses, &c. have the clip member formed, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, by a block a of conducting material.] on which is mounted a spring clip b, the latter being bent into an open foursided formation so as to embrace and grip the block a on all four sides, that is, around substantially its entire periphery. The spring clip is secured in position on the block by being formed with a slot b<2> in its upper face which engages a screw c passing downwardly into the block end securing the lead d in a transverse hole a<2>. Alternatively, two screws may be employed in which a wider slot b<2> is provided. The contacts are assembled in pairs in the fuse &c. base e as shown in Fig. 1, each contact housing having a T-shaped opening e<2> to permit the entry of the blade f and also to accommodate freely the head of the screw or screws c so that the contact has a limited floating movement for self-aligning purposes. The side b<1> of each clip b adjacent the block a is shaped to facilitate the entry of the blade therebetween.
