Abstract
370,733. Switch contacts. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., Hamilton House, Victoria Embankment, London, and WILSON, A. E., 19, Oaklands Road, Bromley, Kent. June 11, 1931, No. 17026. [Class 38 (v).] In a contact making-and-breaking device two outer members 7 grip a contact blade 8, and a U-shaped spring 1 passes over the ends of the outer members and presses on them at points within the contact area, the spring 1 having its ends extended beyond this area so that a bolt 9 passing through the ends of the spring and through the outer members 7 may be used to adjust the pressure between the contact surfaces. The spring 1 has projections 4 which bear on the members 7 and also serve to locate a U-shaped member 18 provided with arcing tips. The members 7 have projections 12 at their ends which co-operate with the curved end 3 of the spring 1 to give uniform contact pressure. A flange 13 on one of the limbs of the spring 1 engages the head of the bolt 9 to prevent rotation when the nut 11 is being tightened, and a bush 15 is provided to prevent excessive tightening.
