Abstract

Crystal detectors.-A crystal detector comprises a base 1 carrying two pillars 2, 3, the former of which has adjustably mounted therein a rod 4 which holds the crystal under pressure of the spring 5 against the pillar 3. In order that the crystal may be rotated with the rod 4, the head 6 of the rod is grooved. The arm 9, which carries the detector spring 18 or crystal, is adjustably mounted in a split member 10 which when pressed down into the socket of the supporting pillar 11 by a spring 13, grips the arm 9. The spring 13 is connected to the member 10 by a pin 12 which passes through the centre of curvature of the ball end of the member. A cover 21 made of glass, cellulose &c. may be provided.
