Coin action, mechanical - connection; pricechanging mechanism.-In a prepayment gas meter of the kind, in which a rotatable disc 6, Fig. 1, carrying a coin pocket 11 is coupled to a measuring-out wheel by a pawl 17 pivoted to the coin pocket and adapted to be pressed into engagement with the wheel by the coin acting against a cam surface, the cam surface is formed by an oblique wall 10, Fig. 3, of the coin slot 9 in a fixed front disc 1. The disc 1 is adjustably secured by three screws passing through three of a series of holes so that the position of the slot 9 relatively to a fixed discharge stop 21 may be varied according to the price of gas. The disc 6 is operated by a handle 5 and has a neck 7, Fig. 4, normally held against a stop 28 on the pricechange disc 1 by a spring 4. Coin-discharging mechanism.-The top of the coin pocket 11 is normally closed by a pivoted flap 13 controlled by a spring 12 and having a beak 15 which, just before the coin pocket comes over the discharge opening, abuts against the stop 21 and is moved by the further movement of the pocket to allow the coin to fall through.
