Abstract
206,031. Collins, J. N., and Grimshaw, W. Nov. 24, 1921. Addition to 195,829. Dynamometers, rotary - transmission -In a torque meter according to the parent Specification, the ends of the coil spring 15 are anchored at two or more points to the flanges 11, 12 which are formed integral with the shafts 7, 8. The anchoring points 15<a> 15<d>, two of which are shown at each end, are secured by screwed bushes 16. To ensure alignment of the shafts, ball bearings 9, 10 are arranged between them. and to prevent over-winding of the spring, lugs 17 are provided on the shaft 7 in such a .pasition that they contact. with similar lugs on the flange 12 when the limit is reached. The flanges 11, 12 carry cylinders 13, 14 as in the parent Specification. The ring 19 supporting the cylinder 14 is adjustably mounted on the flange 12 in order that the crossing of the slot and line may be set to the initial zero. The free end of the cylinder 14 is concealed by a flange 11<a>. A horizontal graduated straight edge is secured, to the bearing 5 to facilitate reading the posi-- tion of the intersection of the slot and line.
