Abstract

357,828. Condensers. ONWOOD, A., 23, Hambledon Road, Southfields, London. Oct. 31, 1930, No. 32815. [Class 38 (ii).] The spindle carrying the moving plates of a variable condenser is supported at or near one end by a thrust bearing comprising a ball 12 resting in the cupped ends of the spindle 11 and of an adjusting screw 13, and at the other by a journal bearing 20 carried by a flexible diaphragm 21 secured as by screws 23 to prevent radial movement. A second journal bearing 17 is shown mounted in a similar diaphragm 25 at the lower end but this may be dispensed with.
