Abstract

205,151. Lamplugh, H. A. July 3, 1922. Spring surfaces.-A seat comprises bowed strips or laths 3, Fig. 1, secured at their ends to tubular members 1, the end strips being slightly thicker than the others. Each strip is covered with felt to prevent rusting. In a chair, Fig. 3, frames 40, 41 of tubular construction are connected by transverse members 42, 43, 44, 47, 48, 49 upon which resilient strips 46 are mounted to form a seat and back respectively. The tubes are of D or of oval cross-section, and the frames are pivoted together, each frame comprising a pair of similarly curved end members connected by transverse members, one frame forming the rear legs and seating framework, the other, the front legs and back portion. To secure the chair in its extended position, keyhole slots on one frame engage pins on the other, and the legs have rubber pads to prevent slipping on the floor. Fig. 6 shows a stool with telescopic legs, laths being secured between tubular members 58 to form the seat.
