Axle-trucks.-A railway or like car truck comprises pilot, central and trailer truck members which are articulated so that each pilot or trailer member may have an independent horizontal lateral movement and a coordinating plate rigidly secured to the car body to co-ordinate the angular position of the central member to that of either or both end members. The pilot and trailer truck members 22 are articulated to the central truck member 32 by hemi-spherical socket joints 24. The central truck frame is mounted to slide transversely of a co-ordinating plate 35 by means of a box-like structure 44 on the co-ordinating plate engaging between the side frames of the central truck member. The trailer or pilot truck is provided with projections 25 which guide the free ends of a leaf spring 40 interposed between the truck and co-ordinating plate and the housing of each of the axle-bearing springs is cylindrical, the housings lying between projections 37 depending from the co-ordinating plate so that relative transverse movement between the axle truck and co-ordinating plate is prevented. When the pilot truck enters a curved track the cylindrical surfaces 27 bear against the projections 37 of the co-ordinating plate to move the co-ordinating plate angularly about the cylindrical surfaces 27 of the trailer truck as pivots permitting the pilot truck to have a horizontal lateral movement independent of the other members. The angular movement of the co-ordinating plate 35 adjusts the central truck member angularly for entering the curved track. Specification 170,051 is referred to.
