Abstract
202,987. American Gasaccumulator Co., (Assignees of MedÚn, E. H.). Aug. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. Signal lamps.-In highway or road signal lamps for use at crossings where roads meet at acute angles or where the meeting roads are of different gradients, means are provided in front of one or more of the lenses of the lamp for deflecting the light in the required direction. As shown, a rectangular lamp casing 2, mounted on a hollow support containing a gas supply chamber for the burner, is provided with light-emitting apertures in which are disposed lenses 5 facing the roads 8 - - 11. In front of the lens facing the road 11 is secured a glass plate 16 provided on its inner face with prisms 15 so as to deflect the light in the direction shown. The plate 16 is detachably secured between a flange on the mouth of a ring 18 secured to the casing and a flanged ring 21 by a clamping ring 22 of V-shaped cross-section which embraces the flanged portions of the parts 18, 21. The plate 16 may be turned so that the prisms 15 run in a horizontal direction for deflecting the light in a vertical plane for use on inclined roads.
