Abstract

The chamber has primary air inlets in its peripheral wall defined by open-ended tubes (7) extending inwardly from the wall and having their outlet ends facing in an upstream direction so that each of the tubes (7) will introduce a stream of air with at least a component of motion in the upstream direction along or parallel with the longitudinal axis of the chamber, thereby to effect recirculation of fuel, air and combustion gases within the chamber. Similar air inlet tubes (8,9) may be provided for introducing secondary and tertiary air. The tubes may additionally be inclined in the circumferential direction. The chamber may be of ceramic and/or metallic material. <IMAGE>
