Abstract

Combustion apparatus for gas turbine engines has an air-jacketed combustion chamber, a base plate 21 at the upstream end of the chamber having an inlet for fuel and air leading to a vapourizer comprising a hollow stem 20 contiguous at one end with the inlet and leading at its other end into a duct 24 transverse to the length of the stem, the free end of the duct being closed but the duct having a number of outlets 26 facing back toward the base plate 21 so that fuel/air mixture leaving the outlets impinges on the inside of the backplate and passes from there into the interior of the chamber. <IMAGE>
