Abstract

An engine bonnet made in several parts, for a motor vehicle such as a tractor, must be readily installable and removable to allow rapid access to all sides of the vehicle engine, and should at the same time reduce the noise emanating from the engine. The invention provides a bonnet composed of two separate side parts 33, 34 and a separate upper bonnet portion 35, all provided with fasteners, so arranged that each side portion is mounted by moving the side portion rearwardly of the vehicle to engage its rear fasteners 46 with receiving elements 27 on the vehicle framework, and subsequently moving the front part of the side portion transversely and inwardly of the vehicle to engage fasteners 12, 13 the upper portion being mounted by engaging a rear fastener 30, 31 and pressing the front part downwardly to engage fasteners 38, 14. The bonnet portions may then be locked in position. <IMAGE>
