1318145 Armoured vehicles G A EARL 10 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971] 4396/71 Heading B7B [Also in Division F3] A kit of parts to convert an unarmoured vehicle shown in Fig. 1 to an armoured vehicle in Fig. 10 comprises a closed front frame 23, a pair of longitudinal bonnet rods 28, 29, Fig. 3, and a rear frame 27 which are secured together to form a basic unit. The closed front frame 23 is attachable to the bumper 22 of the vehicle and the rear frame 22 is attachable to the door pillars. The closed front frame 23 may have a plate 24 pivotally mounted therein and which carries a lever 25, Fig. 4. A cable 26 connects the lever 25 to a handle (not shown) which is operable by the driver of the vehicle. The rear frame may be of "H"-shape and is attachable to the base of the vehicle's windscreen. The kit also comprises a visor frame 34 which is bolted to the cross-piece of the "H"-shaped frame, side plates 36, 37, Fig. 4, which are attachable to the bonnet rods 28, 29 or to the front frame 23 so as to protect the engine, a bonnet top plate 47, Fig. 10, a pair of rear panels 32, 33, Fig. 3, a roof comprising plates 39, 40 and 41, Fig. 8 and having a trap door 42, side plates 49, 50, a door 56 having a weapons slot 57 therein, hinged side-flaps 58, plates 43, Fig. 6, and inner wheelarch plates 48 which are attachable to the plates 43. In another embodiment a gun mounting 64, Fig. 11, is provided.
