An extension unit for increasing the covered luggage space in a vehicle comprises a roof 13 integral with side walls 14 and a lower frame member 20 secured to the vehicle by bolts 22 and by a cross-member 18 secured to the side walls 14 and engaging behind the hinge links 12 of the boot lid which has been removed. A lower roof 16 which may extend laterally to the side walls but is preferably supported from the roof 13 by side walls 24 prevents luggage from obstructing the driver's rear vision through an open or glazed aperture 23 since although the hinged rear wall 15 may have a window 25 it may be left solid if required.
