Abstract

A lifting beam conveyor for step-by-step movement of coils of sheet etc. to be transported, which conveyor obviates the need for the conventional coil transport car and the lifting and driving mechanism thereof, comprises at least one lifting beam 5 having a loading surface and movable longitudinally between supporting surfaces and capable of being lifted and lowered by one or more beam lifting mechanisms 4, a coil lifting mechanism 7 for the last or first coil of sheet located at one end of the lifting beam, the coil lifting mechanism having a coil lifting surface 8 separate from the lifting beam and operable with a greater lifting stroke than the lifting beam. <IMAGE>
