Abstract

For inductive heating of elongate metal workpieces 5 in an induction heating coil furnace 2 wherein the workpieces are placed with their longitudinal axes lying in the direction of the axis of the coil, and they are conveyed in discrete steps in a direction of conveyance running transversely of the axis of the coil, there is apparatus which is characterized in that a plurality of workpiece rests 7 are provided along the path of progression of the workpieces, and a conveyor mechanism is provided comprising a lifting mechanism moved by driving means to and fro in the direction of conveyance and which acts as a bearer 10 of catcher members (30, 32), Fig. 2 (not shown) engageable with each end of a workpiece 5 and which engages the workpiece from below. <IMAGE>
