Abstract

Luggage-carriers are resiliently supported at the back or front of a bicycle, tricycle or motor-cycle by stays 6 pivoted at their upper ends to one ene of the carrier and slidably mounted at their lower ends in guides 7 upon clips 8 or upon lugs brazed on, or bolted to, the forks 3. Springs 10, 11 are held between collars 9 and nuts 12 respectively and the guides 7. The other end of the carrier is folded over upon, and forms a hinge-like joint with, a piece of stout wire the bent ends of which are connected by metal strips and are provided with nuts for clamping the wire to the machine frame. In a modification a loop at the lower end of each stay 6 embraces a long bolt which is fastened by a squared bolt to one of the lugs or clips 8 and carries a nut such as 12 at its upper end'. The springs 10, 11 are then held respectively, between the lower and upper ends of the bolt, and the loop. The stays 6 may be supported from the wheel axles. According to the Provisional Specification the hinge-like joint between the carrier and the frame may be made resilient.
