Braiding-machines.-The machine shown in plan in Fig. 1 is provided with a bobbin controlling race plate made in two parts, the lower part b of which is overlapped at the righthand side by the end c<2> of the upper part a. The bobbin-carriers are driven round by pairs of drivers, one set being above and the other set being below the race plate, and are supported by wings f<1>, f<2> rotating with the drivers. The end plates are provided with narrower wings f<3>, f<4>. The wings f<1>, f<3> lie in a plane below the wings f<2>, f<4>. These wings fit against arcuate guiding pieces d<2>, d<3> rigidly connected to an upper guide piece d<1> and slidingly mounted on the bobbin carrier. Provision is made for holding the parts d<2>, d<3> against the wings f<1> - - f<4> at the crossing places. When the parts d<2>, d<3> overlap the points of the race plates are displaced as shown in Fig. 1. By reducing the overlap, the points can be brought as closely as desired to the line AB. The bobbins lie outside the plates a, b and their threads are conducted through hollow spindles g forming part of the bobbin carriers which rest against gaps in the toothed gears l and are driven by drivers l<1>, l<2> arranged on opposite sides of the race plates. The carriers are provided with arcuate sliders d<4>, d<5> which bear on the rotary wings f<2>, f<1>. Stauffer lubricators may be mounted on the parts p. In a moditication a single cylindrical race plate is used, but the circular arcs of the top part have larger radii of curvature than the arcs of the lower part, and the drivers are provided with long and short arms arranged alternately. The carriers are guided by fixed winged guide pieces.
