Abstract
A suspension comprises a saddle 12, carrying the axle journal 11, which is connected to a supporting structure mounted on the vehicle by two springs 14 disposed fore-and-aft of the axle journal. The supporting structure comprises two members 15 pivotally mounted on the vehicle and pivotally connected together at a point above the axle journal. Friction dampers 20, 21 are arranged between the members 15 and the saddle 12 to restrain vertical movement of the saddle, and the arrangement is such that the turning moments applied by the springs 14 to the members 15 increase the frictional engagement of the dampers, so that the damping force increases with increasing payload. <IMAGE>
