Abstract

201,438. Biggs, E. T. Sept. 6, 1922. Pin and like wrenches; handles.-An adjustable pin spanner is formed of three essential parts one carrying a pin or projection for engaging a slot or hole in the nut, or the like, another forming a jaw and adapted to bear against the periphery of the nut, and a third member mounted on the first and adapted to hold the first two parts in position after they have been adjusted. Two pins are formed at the ends of screws 3, 19, Fig. 1, which are received in tapped recesses in the curved part 2 integral with a curved handle 1. The jaw-engaging member 7 is pivoted at 5 and is formed with a series of teeth 8 one of which is engaged by a pivoted member 9 to hold the jaw in its adjusted position. The screws 3, 19, are set so that the pin of one of the screws projects to engage the slot or hole in the nut being operated on. Screws with pins of different sizes may be employed, or the pin may be formed with one flat side to engage the edge of a slot. In a modification the pin 3, Fig. 5 is carried by a screwed bar 11 adjustable by a nut 15 mounted in the jaw-engaging member 13. The pin may be mounted directly on the bar 11, or on a chain 18 pivoted to the bar.
