Abstract

A method for welding together face to face metal work sheets 1, 2 having a thickness ratio of, for example, 3:1 or greater, which consists of placing an additional metal sheet 3 against the other face of the thinner work sheet in order to improve the weld penetration of the thinner sheet. The additional metal may be broken away after welding. A continuous seam may be produced by repeated overlapping spot welds. <IMAGE>
