Abstract

PURPOSE: To form beads in the welding start end parts between base metals satisfactorily by bringing a tab formed with a solid iron powder layer and a solid flux layer in one piece into abutment on the welding start end faces of the base metals to be welded.
CONSTITUTION: In fillet welding or the like of base metals 1, 2 to be welded to each other, a tab 5 formed with a solid iron powder layer 5b on the contact surface with the base metals 1, 2 and a solid flux on the non-contact surface in one piece is brought into abutment on the welding start end faces of the base metals 1, 2. Since the arc can be emitted directly to the layer 5b by this, the arc can be applied over the entire area of the welding start end faces of the base metals 1, 2. Hence, the lack of fusion at the welding end start faces does not occur and reinforcement of weld beads at the welding ends are formed well.
