Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the heat capacity in the groove even with respect to input of welding heat and form even penetration beads with ease by placing the fillers having the heat capacity equivalent to that of tack-weld zones on the non-tack-weld portions in a penetration welding method.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of performing penetration welding of a V-groove 2 by base metals 3, the base metals are beforehand tack welded partially by TIG welding to form beads 1. Next, filler wires 4 of the heat capacity equivalent to that of the tack-weld zones are placed in the non-tack-welded portions between the tack weld zones. This groove is penetration-welded by large current of 300 to 400 A by TIG welding or MIG welding. Since the entire part of the groove is of the same heat capacity, even penetration beads may be readily formed.
