Abstract

A closure for the neck of a container comprises a non-refillable fitment 1 having a one-way valve seated in the neck and retained therein by an external cowl 8 acting on an annular flange of the fitment and being engaged in an annular groove 9 or beneath an annular bead on the neck, the outlet end of the fitment being closed by a closure cap 4, the closure cap and the cowl being covered by a second closure 20 comprising a thin-gauge metal shell having a skirt 22 with a circumferential line of weakness 25 provided by spaced slots and bridges, each slot having an upper lip 26 and a lower lip 27, the lower end of the skirt of said shell being rolled or crimped beneath an annular bead 10 on the container neck, and at least some of the lower lips 27 of said slots being deformed towards the axis of the shell to overlie parts of the cowl acting on the annular flange of said fitment. With this arrangement skirt 22 does not slip down the container neck when upper part 21 of the shell is removed. <IMAGE>
