Abstract

A variable speed governor for diesel engines has provision for effecting full load fuel delivery limitation simultaneously with decreasing speed, thus preventing atmospheric pollution. A pump regulating rod (101) is acted on by flyweights (19) via follower (17) lever (16) and spring (103) in the fuel increasing direction. A drag lever (11) is coupled through slots to follower 17 and a lever (14, 143) by pins (171, 141). Lever arm 143 has a bell crank (12) pivotally attached at one end by its apex, the bell crank carrying abutments (123, 122) for engagement with prints (104) and (131) connected to the regulating rod and at a fixed location respectively. A screw abutment (1420) and a loading spring (7) attached to lever 14 are provided for a third point on the bell crank and a spring (8) biases levers 14 and 11 towards a stop (G5). A starting lever (13) is provided to displace abutment 131 allowing excess fuel for starting. <IMAGE>
