Abstract

Two exhaust-gas turbine driven compressors 4,4a are connected in parallel to each other to the exhaust pipe 2 and to the inlet pipe 8 and a valve 9 is kept closed during starting- up and low speed running so that only one of the turbo-chargers is operative, a non-return valve 10 remaining closed at the same time. A blow-off valve 11 opens to permit exhaust gases to escape when the charging air pressure in inlet pipe 8 reaches too high a value. <IMAGE>
