Abstract

In an engine of the type having a lobed, or "piston", rotor 4 which engages a gate, or "chamber", rotor 6 with a parallel axis of rotation, the exhaust gases are ejected through both a high-pressure line 24 and a low-pressure line 21. The high-pressure line is on the leading side of the low-pressure line with respect to the direction of rotation of the piston rotor. The exhaust gas in the high-pressure line may be used to either drive an air compressor for an air intake(s) 16, 18, Fig. 6 (not shown), or to draw out any remaining exhaust gas from the low-pressure line by means of an injector 20 in the low-pressure line. The lines 21, 24 may be oriented nearly tangential to the inner chamber wall to improve the gas flow. Similar exhaust-gas lines 23, 26 may be associated with the chamber rotor. <IMAGE>
