Abstract
200,546. Jones, R. M. March 10, 1922. Reciprocating-mould-table machines; tamping-machines; moulds; feeding.- Apparatus for moulding concrete blocks &c. faced with stucco and waterproof layers 1, 2 and grooved as shown in Fig. 7, comprises a frame, in and out of which a pallet is reciprocated on a carrier running on rails, and a mould also movable, in and out of the frame, in which it is situated immediately over the pallet. The frame 38, adapted to mould two blocks at once, is mounted in a base 36 supported on standards 37 and comprises front, rear, and end walls 39, 40, 41, and a centre board 50. The pallet carrier is initially positioned on rollers at the end of rails 42 where it is covered with double-faced pallets 56 provided with groove - forming ridges 68, 69 and filled with stuccofacing from a bin 44. The carrier is then moved on the rails 42 underneath a, screen 46 through which waterproofing material supplied from a bin 45 sifted and is finally positioned in the frame 38 as shown in Fig. 1. The mould is then slid on V-shaped arms 72 into position in the frame by means of slides 75 operated by handles 80 and supported in guides 78, and is filled with concrete. The latter is consolidated by a tamper head 84 supported on the end of an arm 82 reciprocated by a crank 95 on a shaft 96, the weight of the head 84 being counterbalanced by adjustable weights 88. The finished blocks are removed by the upward motion of pallet spiders 102 provided with locking latches 124 and mounted on the ends of shafts 103 operated by a treadle 106. Modified apparatus is described for moulding the corner blocks shown in Fig. 7, the corner 120 and tapered edges 119 being formed by a corner matrix of angles iron The machine, is adapted for moulding bricks by the use of a mould having a plurality of division plates which are reciprocated through slots formed in the wall 40 and by using a pallet extending the whole length of the carrier and having projections corresponding to the division plates, the tamper head also being recessed to correspond to the mould spaces.
