200,460. Coke & Gas Ovens, Ltd., (Still, C.). May 22, 1922. Pitch from a tar still 1 passes to a sunken receiver 2 from which it is forced by compressed air to raised pitch bays 3, so that when the pitch is solidified, it may be shovelled down to a truck 4. The pitch bays may have flexible walls connected at their upper edges by chains with a turnbuckle arrangement, these chains being tensioned where the molten pitch is admitted but released when the pitch has solidified so that the walls will return to their normal positions leaving gaps into which the breaking-up tools can be inserted.
