Abstract

189,954. Strange, C. H. Oct. 31, 1921. Scraping apparatus. - A scraper, drawn to and fro in a mine gallery by head and tail ropes 13, comprises side-plates 1 with open top, bottom and front-end A, and a back-plate 5 hinged to the side-plates at 7. The side-plates are connected by archmembers 2, 4. The tail-rope 13 is connected to the back-plate so that when the scraper is drawn towards the working face the back-plate is down and enters the loose material. A rope 15 connects the back-plate to the headrope, so that when the scraper is drawn away from the working face the back-plate is raised and pushes the material before it.
