Abstract

To improve scavenging and reduce air pollution, the exhaust gases are discharged through a port 3 formed in the piston crown so that the fresh mixture the density of which is greater than that of the exhaust gases and which is admitted through inclined transfer ports, is separated from the exhaust gases by the centrifugal force developed in the swirling charge. Exhaust part 3 is formed in a metal element 12 which is fixed to the piston heat. <IMAGE>
