Indicators actuated by pressure of head of liquid.-A mercury seal is provided for the lower end of an air tube immersed in a liquid, the mercury being contained in a vessel open to the liquid and placed at the bottom of the liquidcontaining tank. In the most simple form shown in Fig. 1, mercury is poured into the cup B up to the level C, the tube D, to which the gauge is connected and through which air may be blown, extending below this level. In a modification, a larger tube surrounds the tube D, the bottom end extending close to the bottom of the mercury cup and the top end through the top of the tank. In the form shown in Fig. 3 a U- tube is attached to the tank bottom, the tube D extending below the level of the mercury. This form is modified by placing one leg of the U- tube within the other.
