Liquid - level pressure gauges.-A gauge adapted to indicate liquid levels at a distance comprises two tubes which transmit the pressure from the bottom of the liquid and from the space above the liquid respectively to an indicator comprising an inverted U-tube gauge. Fig. 2 shows a device comprising two tubes VS, VD; the top of the tube VS is connected to a tube K extending into a depression r in the bottom of the tank R, and the top of the tube VD is connected by a pipe z to the top of the tank. The indicator consists of the tubes CS, CD connected by the bridge part F, and an adiacent scale 70. A liquid G fills the parts VS, VD, the connecting pipes s, d and parts of the tubes OS, CD, and a coloured liquid 0 of less density fills the bridge part F. A rise in the liquid level B alters the position of the levels in the tubes CS, CD. Corrections for various errors may be made by means of a receptacle connected to the pipe s, near the transmitter or near the indicator, by making the pipe s larger than the pipe d, or by making an enlargement in the pipe s. The transmitter VS, VD may be placed in an inclined position in tanks. Valves 71, 72 connected by linkwork 73 are used for charging the tanks and manipulating the charges. These may be replaced by a spring- loaded sliding piston valve. The depression r may be replaced by a small saucer, and the leg of the siphon K entering it may be surrounded by cotton waste or the like. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes a modification, Fig. 15 (Cancelled), not shown, in which the indicator CS, CD, 0 is inverted from the position shown in Fig. 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
