Abstract

199,901. Mace, H. May 15, 1922. Reciprocating and oscillating machines.-An electromagnetic motor comprises a pair of solenoids 2, 3 fixed upon a base 1, and a soft-iron armature 5 carried by a non-magnetic rod 8. The rod is connected by a link 10 to a crank-disc 11 on a shaft 12. The magnet coils are alternately energized by means of a reciprocating switch-rod 29, which is connected through levers 21, 23, 26 to a sleeve 16 surrounding an eccentric 15 on the shaft 12. An extension of the sleeve is pivoted to a block 18 which slides in an adjustable guide 19. The guide 19 is connected by a link 40 to a lever 38 by means of which the switch-rod can be brought into contact with either of the brushes 31 for starting the motor in a certain direction or for stopping.
