Abstract

199,001. Klein, W. H. June 9, 1922, [Convention date]. Nozzles for producing whirling sprays.- In spraying water more particularly under low heads, for use in condensing systems or cooling ponds, the water is led through a passage 13 tangential to a chamber 10 of involute section having an outlet 16 perpendicular to the inlet and eccentric to the chamber, the outlet being out of line with and of smaller area than the inlet. The inlet is of circular section at its outer end which gradually merges to a rectangle of the same cross-section where it enters the chamber 10. In a modification. in addition to the involute section, reduction in cross section of the path of the water is obtained by raising the floor of the chamber 10 towards the outlet. Fig. 9 shows a form in which two chambers 10 are fed from a common inlet 13.
