Abstract

Compound or articulated road vehicles.-In a compound vehicle in which a tractor and twowheeled trailer are engaged and disengaged by relative longitudinal movement, the tractor carries a grooved guide in which engages a roller carried by the perch-pin on the trailer. Fig. 2 shows a part transverse section through the turntable and pivot pin, and Fig. 1 shows, a plan of the parts on the tractor. The tractor carries the lower part a of the turntable, a frame c carrying the part a 'by means of supports b and two inwardly facing channel members d forming the grooved guide. The ring a is cut away at the rear between the channels d. The frame c may be carried on the tractor frame by transverse pivots. The trailer carries the upper part e of the turntable, the perch pin l and a grooved roller o which is adapted to slide, when the. tractor is backed, into the groove formed by the channels d which are flared at the end for thi; purpose. The roller is then brought up by a bolt p and is held in position by the detachable pin q. Specifications 194,787, [Class 79 (v), Motor vehicles, Steering &c.], and 195,124 are referred to.
