Abstract
198,661. Dupuy, H. May 30, 1922, [Convention date]. Hydrocarbons, distilling.-In the distillation of solids, such as coal, or liquids, such as tar, the material is treated in a chamber a with superheated steam and the steam and distillation products are passed in a closed circuit through a condenser b by a fan c and back to the chamber a through a cooler d for residual products from the chamber a and superheater e. The distillation products are treated with a water spray f projected against a baffle h in the condenser b, the condensed liquids being collected in the vessel i. A branch pipe k removes the surplus products to a low temperature condenser m, the uncondensed gases escaping at o. The steam and gases entering the cooler d are re-heated by contact with the hot residues from the chamber a and pass into the superheater e before entering the chamber a. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) refers also to the use of gas as a distilling agent. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
