Abstract

184,170. Verein fur Chemische und Metallurgische Produktion. Aug. 5, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Hydrocarbons, distilling; bulk evaporators; separate heater and evaporator apparatus.-In distilling tar &c., frothing and overheating are prevented by the use of a vessel 1, which is heated either externally or internally, and which is mounted on hollow axles in bearings 3 and carries a weighted arm 4 so that the vessel may be given a swinging motion. The tar enters continuously by an inlet 6, and the heated liquid and vapours pass together from the outlet 7. The vapours may be fractionally condensed and the liquid passed through a series of similar vessels for fractional distillation. The vessel 1 is inclined slightly to the outlet and may be of annular cross-section or in the form of the usual crystallizing-cradles.
