Spigot-and-socket joints with packing at base or mouth of socket.-The spigot end F of a domestic water tap G is secured to a socket B by means of a union nut E engaging a flange H fixed to the spigot and an external screw thread on the socket B and compressing packing J. Pins K on the socket prevent rotation of the tap. A squared portion C fits into a square hole in the basin &c. and a screwed portion D serves as a connection to the supply pipe.
