Abstract

Branches and mains, connecting; overlap joints with tapered spigot; overlap joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer pipe; spigot-and-socket joints held by cement and the like; couplings with bolts and flanges.- A trap for sinks, lavatory basins, baths, &c. is connected to the waste pipe by a flange e formed with a cone f and a groove g corresponding with a flange and hollow cone h on the pipe. For lead pipes the cone and flange h may be formed as a separate ring which clamps the expanded end of the pipe against the cone f. The trap is connected to the bath &c. by means of the waste-fitting q, which screws into a socket o cemented in an undercut recess n. Lock-nuts s, r secure the joints to the trap and bath &c. respectively. The waste-fitting may be screwed into the trap or attached by bolts passing through flanges on the fitting and trap.
