Abstract

197,780. Mosher, C. D. March 8, 1922. Liquid-fuel furnaces.-An oil-fuel furnace comprises a conical chamber formed of a plurality of sections 11 of incombustible material over the exterior surface of which dampers 19 are arranged, holes 18 being formed in a plurality of rings in the chamber in such a manner that air enters the chamber through the holes in a direction approximately opposite to that of the fuel from the burner 25. Projections 37 between the rings of holes deflect the sprayed oil-fuel towards the centre of the chamber. The dampers 19 have slots 20 registering with slots 17 in the sections 11, and are rotated from the front of the aircasing 32 by handles 24 operating gears 22, 23. The sections 11 are secured at their ends by corrugated bands, to allow for expansion.
