Abstract

197,593. Weidenkaff, W. Aug. 10, 1922. Nail extractors.-In a nail extractor of the kind in which a pair of pincers are slidable within a guide casing e and are operated by a pinion h and a rack f which is connected to the arms a, p of the pincers by links q, r, the jaws are rendered self-opening by means of a spring d, and are caused to close on to and grip the nail head during the initial movement of the pincers into the sleeve, by means of a pair of spring clips l secured to the casing e by a pin o and engaging the links q, r. As the pincers are drawn further into the casing, the clips l spring over the ends of the links and engage the arms a, p to hold the jaws closed. The pincer jaws b are removably secured to the arms a, p by means of tapered shanks and set screws.
