197,481. Ferguson, T. T. H. March 21, 1922. Measuring consumption of petrol with respect to mileage of vehicles.-In a pump for liquid such as fuel for motor-cars, the liquid is pumped into a tank 2 containing a float 21 provided with a V- shaped slot 27. The slot engages a bar 26 on the pump rod 28, which is operated by a spring lever 18 oscillated by a crank 16. As the liquid rises in the tank 2, the slot 27 reduces the stroke, and the flow of liquid corresponding to the stroke is indicated on a scale by a pointer on a spindle 30 operated by the rise and fall of tile float. The pump may be driven from the road wheels or speedometer shaft.
